Rodney “Rudy” Dale Rudolph, 67, Dawson, ND entered paradise on July 25, 2019, after a four-year battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 29, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 255 Columbia Avenue, Tappen, ND.
Family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. Cremation has taken place.
Burial will be at Glueckstal Cemetery, Dawson.
Rodney was born January 17, 1952, in Jamestown, ND to Edward and Beverly Rudolph. He was baptized at the home of his grandparents, Gottihief and Emma Lang, in Tappen, on November 23, 1952. He confirmed his faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tappen on May 29, 1966 and remained a member throughout his life.
He attended his first six years of schooling at Dawson and graduated from Steele High School in May of 1970.
After graduation, he attended Western Tech, Denver, CO studying Diesel Mechanics. He moved back to the home place the spring of 1971 due to the untimely death of his dad on June 1st.
Rodney married his high school sweetheart, Linda Roemmich, June 25, 1971 and on October 9, 1975, they purchased the Magrum/Schmidt farm 5 miles south of Dawson.
December 9, 1975, their son Allen Edward was born and on January 31, 1988, daughter Erin Ann Marie completed their family.
Rodney was a farmer at heart, though he had livestock, he enjoyed planting and harvesting the most, saying he wished he could have owned land in the Red River Valley. Due to his love for the land, in the later years he became an organic grain farmer.
He loved ’56 Chevy cars and IH equipment, especially 856 tractors.
His greatest joy was his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He would take time away from haying to take the kids to the lake, saying it’s too hot to hay anyway.
Leaving behind his wife of 48 years, Linda; son, Allen (Tammy) Rudolph; their two sons: Luke and Abel; daughter, Erin (Jonathon) Madcke; their children: Britta, Briar, Brycen and Brooke; his brother, Don (Pam) Rudolph; mother-in-law, Leona Roemmich; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Laura) Shipley, Kenny (Lana) Fischer, Donna Roemmich, and Rachele Emil; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Edward and Beverly Rudolph; father-in-law, Leonard; brother-in-law, Leonard Jay Roemmich; grandparents, Gottihief and Emma Lang and John and Eva Rudolph; his nephew Troy Rudolph and great nieces, Hope and Elise Dockter.
