Roger Lee Danley

August 25, 1950 — October 2, 2020

Roger Lee Danley, 70, Mandan, passed away on Oct. 2, 2020.

Roger was born in Bismarck on Aug. 25, 1950.  He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1969.

Roger was a people person.  He loved to entertain and had many friends.  He showed his generosity to others by his work with the homeless in Seattle.  He was known to give cash or a place to stay to friends who had fallen on hard times.

Roger worked as a bartender in Seattle and Denver.  Upon moving to Las Vegas, he was employed in the gift shop at Treasure Island where he was named Treasure Island Employee of the Month in 2003.  He then moved on to work in the gift shop for the Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio.  He said his greatest joy was to meet and assist people from all over the world in those stores.  He was forced to retire in 2015 due to ill health.  Roger moved back to Bismarck where he stayed with his sister, Beverly, moved to Lakewood Landing in Mandan, and ultimately to Sunset Drive Prospera in Mandan.  Although becoming increasingly limited in mobility, he still enjoyed talking to people and was thankful that his cell phone had unlimited minutes.

He is survived by his brothers, Bill Danley, Seattle, WA, and Gary Danley, Bovey, MN; a very special niece, Cheryl Burns, South Prairie, WA; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn Danley and Barbara Danley-Trolley; siblings, Beverly Senger, Lynnette Huft, and Patricia Danley, all of Bismarck, Judy Bickel, Great Falls, MT, and Robert Danley, Seattle, WA.

Due to the pandemic, cremation has already taken place and there will be no services.  A memorial celebration of Roger’s life will be scheduled at a later date.

The family also wishes to thank the staff of both Lakewood Landing and Sunset Drive Prospera for the exceptional care and friendship shown to Roger during his stays at those residences.  Your kindness and compassion are truly appreciated.
