Roger “Max” D. Neff, 83, Bismarck, passed away on August 9, 2018, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, August 13, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Burial will be at 1:00 pm Monday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Parkway Funeral Service. Max was born September 6, 1934, in McClusky, ND, to Charles and Minnie Neff. He was raised and educated in McClusky. In 1956 he married the love of his life, Lorraine Wageman, in Bismarck, ND, and they raised three children, Cheryl, Pam, and Steve. Max was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957 as a sharp shooter and honorably discharged in 1959. Max was a dozer operator working road construction around the state for Tennefos Construction, Fargo, and then Holen Construction, McClusky, until his retirement. Max enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, and welding metal art. In his retirement years he made a number of clocks, wooden shelves, outdoor metal flowers and we all received one whether we wanted one or not. He was also a big fan of the Minnesota Twins, and enjoyed watching bowling tournaments as well as all the game shows he could take in. He was a man’s man, if he couldn’t find the right tool; he would built it or manufactured it and always finished the job he started. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Lorraine, Bismarck; his three children, Cheryl (Stuart) Tracy, Bismarck, Pam (Matt) Vetter, Riverdale, and Steve (Peggy) Neff, Mandan; four grandchildren, Jeremy Becker, Corey Neff (fiancé, Marissa Ault), Brittany (Ben) Garber, and Chad (Courtney) Neff; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Clifford (Marvel) Neff; and two sisters-in-law, Loretta Neff and Bernice Just. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Minnie Neff; his brother, Jerry Neff; his sister, Shirley Reiser; and his granddaughter, Jessica Mosbrucker. The family would like to thank the staff of Marion Manor in Glen Ullin for the wonderful care Max received during the past four plus months.
