Roland “Bud” Schulz, 88, Bismarck, died April 6, 2018, at the Baptist Health Care Center, Bismarck. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 12, at the Baptist Health Care Center Chapel, 3400 Nebraska Dr., Bismarck. A rosary will be held one hour prior to the service followed by visitation. Burial will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, April 12, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Bud was born September 13, 1929, in Richardton, ND, the son of John and Lena (Palm) Schulz. He was raised and lived in Richardton and went to work for John Jr., his brother, at the grain elevator in 1947. He was later made manager and continued in that capacity until November 1981, when the business was closed. Bud served two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Honolulu. He also served on the Richardton City Commission for 16 years from 1960-1968 and 1972 – 1980. Bud was also part-owner of the Richardton Machine Shop and Wishek Steel. He enjoyed bowling, being in the Richardton Saddle Club, and was a good dancer. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post 180. Bud is survived by one sister, Delores Dimmick, Yakima, WA; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and four brothers.
