Romaltus "Ramy" Wangler

Romaltus “Ramy” Wangler, 87, loving husband, wonderful dad, and gentle grandfather, went to be with our Lord on January 17, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, January 20, at Church of St. Mary, 806 E. Broadway Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Friday, January 19, at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Ramy was born on March 3, 1930, in Logan County, ND, the son of Wendelin and Mary Eva (Gross) Wangler. He was raised on the family farm and attended country school near St. Boniface Church in Logan County. Ramy served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War with the Engineer Battalion from 1951 -1953. Ramy married Anna Mary Werner on June 10, 1953, in Emmons County. They were blessed with five children. Following Anna’s illness and hospitalization in 1963, Ramy essentially became a single parent and was dedicated to keeping his family together and raising his children. While he completed school through the eighth grade, before later entering the military, in later years with three of his kids in tow, he went to college in Wahpeton at the School of Science and received a degree as a diesel technician. Ramy worked for 39 years at Nelson International before retiring in 1998. Ramy married Rosemary Schumacher on January 23, 1982, in Bismarck. They continued to live in Bismarck and were blessed with 36 years of marriage. They united their two families as one and Ramy and Rose loved all their families deeply. Ramy had a lifelong appreciation for music and singing. He was a member of the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion at Rollag, MN. Ramy is survived by his wife, Rosemary, Bismarck; his daughters, Mary Gebhardt, Bismarck, and Carol (Allen) Wiebusch, Grand Forks, ND; his sons, Ken (Sue) Wangler, Al (Patti) Wangler, and Ray (Joyce) Wangler, all of Bismarck; his step-daughters, Linda (John) Putz, and Sandie (Steve) VanVoorhis; his step-sons, Steve (Pat) Schumacher, Gary (Dora) Schumacher, Tom (Elizabeth) Schumacher, and Jeff (Doreen) Schumacher; 34 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother; three infant siblings; his stepson, Butch Schumacher; and his grandson, Bobby Schumacher.
