Ronald D Bauer

Ronald D. Bauer, 82, Bismarck, died May 15, 2018, at St. Gabriel’s Community, Bismarck. There will be a gathering from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Sunday, May 20, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 16, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 201 2nd St SE, Jamestown, ND. Ron, the only child of Alvin and Berta (Rath) Bauer, was born on December 17, 1935, in Bismarck, ND. His early childhood years were spent in Kulm, ND, before the family moved to Jamestown, where he attended elementary school and graduated from Jamestown High School. Ron and Betty Dewald were united in marriage on June 16, 1957, at the Gackle Congregational Church. They celebrated 57 years of marriage just prior to Betty’s passing in late June of 2014.   Ron was very knowledgeable about and always enjoyed owning and driving great cars. He began his automotive-related working career at Midstate Auto Supply in Jamestown. In 1966, Ron and Betty had the opportunity to move to Seattle, WA, where he worked for Boeing for a number of years. During his time with Boeing, he traveled to numerous foreign countries working on various commercial airliners. He went on to work as the service manager for Good Chevrolet in Renton, WA, for numerous years. After living in Washington for 44 years, Ron and Betty returned to North Dakota in 2010, and settled in Bismarck where they resided until their passing. Ron truly enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing with friends and family. He always enjoyed sharing stories about these outings around the dinner table. No one liked a good joke more than Ron and his laugh was contagious. Ron is survived by two sisters-in-law, Alice Dewald, Streeter, and Alma Dewald, Jamestown; one step-brother; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his and Betty’s parents; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
