Ronald “Joe” Hieb, 76, of Menoken, ND, fell asleep in Jesus’ arms on August 13, 2018 after a long hard battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday August 22, 2018 at The Bismarck Adventist Church, 1109 N 26th St, Bismarck, ND. Joe was born on March 5, 1942 in Jamestown, ND to Sam and Frieda (Fuhrman) Hieb. He grew up in Medina, ND, graduating from high school at Sheyenne River Academy in 1960. Joe graduated from Union College, Lincoln, NE, in 1965 with a B.A. in Religion and went on to teach elementary school for 12 years. He earned an M.A. in Counselor Education from Loma Linda University in 1971. In 1977, Joe left teaching and after completing his training at Texas Heart Institute, began a 34-year career in cardiopulmonary perfusion. Joe was forced to retire in 2013 when he received his devastating diagnosis of cancer. Joe married Mary Anne Curran on January 16,1999. They were blessed with 19 years of love and adventure. Joe’s favorite outdoor activities included houseboating, barefooting, and jet skiing on Lake Mead and driving his dune buggy in the Nevada desert. Whether on land or water, Joe’s motto was “Just Do It”! Joe is survived by his wife, Mary Anne; son, David; grandson, Devin (Alisha); granddaughter, Darby; brothers, Russell (Cynthia), Ralph (Carolyn), Robert (Debra); brother-in-law, Mike (Joyce); sister-in-law, Joan (Tom), and many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Frieda. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Joe’s name to Dakota Adventist Academy.
