Ronald Marchus, 80, the son of Arthur and Helen (Hanson) Marchus, Bismarck, died peacefully surrounded by family in his home on February, 9th, 2025.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 14th at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave, with Father Keith Streifel officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Ronald Marchus was born January 11, 1945. He grew up and attended school in Rugby. He graduated from Wolford High School in 1963.
On May 17, 1969, in Minot, he married Carol Lachenmeier and together had two children. He owned and operated Marchus Homes from 1985, until retiring.
Following retirement, his schedule remained just as busy if not busier. He enjoyed woodworking, and building crafts for loved ones. To him, a Sunday well spent involved watching football, especially when the Vikings would win. He was known for staying busy around his house and in his yard. He was happiest while with his family.
His community on Napa Loop filled his days with joy and purpose. As his neighbors can attest, if anyone had a problem, Ron had a solution. With his skill and willingness to help, he would solve just about any dilemma that showed up in his garage.
Ron was also known for his green thumb. It wasn’t uncommon for his garden’s produce to appear on the front steps of houses in the Loop. He had a soft spot for the neighborhood children – always supporting their lemonade stands, fixing bikes, and joining in their games.
He is survived by his two children, Rick (Melanie) Marchus and Rhonda Marchus; his grandchildren, Sage and Simone Marchus; his partner, Rayetta Donnelly; his brother, Gary (June) Marchus, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Marchus; brother, Roger Marchus; sister, Carol Rathjen; brother, Lloyd Marchus; and his parents.
