Ron was the first-born child on June 22, 1942 to Ethel (Adelia) Elser and Wilbert Vetter in Garrison, ND. He was raised on a farm outside of Garrison and graduated from Garrison High School in 1960. Ron got drafted into the Vietnam war in 1968 and served for our country. Upon returning home from Vietnam, Ron attended trade school for sheet metal. After finishing schooling he became a member of Sheet Metal Union Local 10 and was exceptional at his work. Ron worked hard and eventually became a sheet metal union instructor for many years.

Ron was a family-oriented man who loved spending time with his wife and grandchildren. Ron loved fishing and enjoyed reading books about history. His happy place was at home with his wife and that is where you would find him. Ron was known as a very kind and loving person by everyone who was a part of his life. He was an easy-going and humble man who got along with everyone. Ron was always joking around with the people around him and his smile could light up a room.
