Rose Hopfauf, 91, Bismarck, went with the angels on December 24, 2017, after a short illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 29, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 N 2nd St., Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, December 28, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck. Rose was born on October 26, 1926, in Morton County, the oldest of five daughters of Dominic and Eva (Stein) Zander. She grew up on the farm NW of Mandan, attended rural Morton County schools and earned her high school diploma. She married Peter P. Hopfauf on October 28, 1946, at Saint Vincent’s Catholic Church in Crown Butte. Rose and Peter farmed until 1955, when they moved to Mandan. She worked for Ben Franklin, Cloverdale Foods for many years and then the Heartview Foundation in Mandan until she retired. After retiring, she volunteered at Corpus Christi Church, Germans from Russia, Burleigh County Senior Center, Martin Luther School, Ruth Meiers, and was an RSVP volunteer at CHI St. Alexius Health at the time of her passing. Rose and Peter enjoyed traveling and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2006. After Peter’s passing in 2008, she continued to travel and liked to socialize with friends. She flew to New Mexico in November with her granddaughter, Keri, to experience the beauty and sunshine of the southwest. Rose is survived by her son Darol and daughter-in-law, Nancy, Albuquerque, NM; her grandchildren, Keri Sease (Nathan), Bismarck, Erin Hopfauf (Taurus Bledsoe), West Fargo; her great-grandchildren, Trenton and Tanner Schantz, Maggie and Stella Sease, Bismarck; her sisters, Betty Kostelecky (Albert), Mandan, Gloria Kraft (John), Sheridan, WY, Eva Delone (Bob), Grand Junction, CO, Margie Ferderer, Mandan; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Leo Wetsch, and Marlene and David Sautner, Mandan; and many dear and caring friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; her parents; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
