Rosemary Gunsch

January 19, 1927 — May 23, 2023

Rosemary Gunsch, 96, passed peacefully from this life on May 23, 2023. Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 30 at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. A prayer service will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. A celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25 at Grace Lutheran Brethren Church, Bismarck.

Rosemary Tetzloff was born near Glen Ullin, ND, on January 19, 1927, one of 14 children born to Gustav and Pauline (Friez) Tetzloff. She was raised on the family farm near the Heart River south of Glen Ullin and attended a rural country school.

Rosemary married Emil Gunsch in Hebron, ND, in 1944. Together, they had two children, Peggy and Dean. Rosemary and Emil helped raise her younger sister, Evelyn, and twin nieces, Sue Hickman and Sandi Nyitray.

She attended Christe’s Beauty School in Bismarck and owned and operated her own beauty salons in New Salem and Bismarck, retiring in 1982. She was active in the North Dakota Hairdressers Association and served as president at one time.

She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Even though Emil was blind, he and Rosemary traveled to all fifty states, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and China.

Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Al) Gustin; daughter-in-law, Diane Gunsch; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Todd) Pfennig and Amy (A.J.) Millin, Spring, TX, Joanne (Jay) Krueger, Fridley, MN, Jesse (Kelly) Gunsch, Lincoln, ND, and Rochelle Raasch, Dickinson, ND; seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee (Alex) Yanez, Auburn, CA, Kyra Pfennig, Kansas City, KS, Jacob Pfennig, Lawrence, KS, Logan and Lennon Krueger, Fridley, MN, Dominic (Paige) Gunsch, Minot, ND, and Brandon Raasch, Dickinson, ND; sister, Ann Zoccoli, Santa Cruz, CA; sisters-in-law, Margie Butler, Mandan, ND, and Lydia Mosbrucker, Corvallis, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Emil; son, Dean; six brothers, Art, Frederick, Rueben,  Reinhardt, Raymond, and Alvin; and six sisters, Elma Haberstroh,  Adeline Dalke, Arlene Ingalls,  Evelyn Sodervick, Anita  Welsh  and Pauline Earls.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of CaringEdge Hospice and Edgewood Mandan in Mandan for their loving care of Rosemary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Rosemary’s favorite charity, the Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice.
