Rosemary Peterson

Rosemary Peterson, 92, passed away from this life peacefully on December 8, 2019 in New Port Richey, FL. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Cremation has taken place.

Rosemary was born on October 28, 1927 to George and Nellie Colling. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Bismarck and married her high school sweetheart, James Kielty. She later married Ken Peterson of Carson, ND in 1970.

She graduated from Cristy Beauty School in Bismarck in 1965 and worked for Joseph Hair Styling School. Over time, she became an instructor and then manager. Rosemary moved to Florida and became an instructor at Hernando Community College. She later moved to Reno, NV, and worked at Silver State Beauty College before buying Carson City Beauty Academy. She finally retired after 37 years of being a cosmetologist at the age of 75 when she sold her business.

Rosemary was a generous and witty person who loved her family passionately. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was dedicated to the Catholic Church and was a breast cancer survivor. Her six children remember her as a beautiful, kind, and feisty mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen Kielty, FL; Rod (Mary) Kietly, FL; Roger (Kay) Kielty, FL; Cheryl (Randy Hohbein) Herman, Bismarck; Susan (Mike) Kielty-O’Neill, FL; Bob (Brenda) Kielty, ID; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Karen) Colling, WA; and sister-in-law, Mary Colling, Bismarck.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nellie; three brothers, Rusty (Evelyn), Maurice (Barb), and Bill.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Rosemary’s name to the Bismarck Cancer Center.
