Roy L. Mindt
August 19, 1939 – July 10, 2022
Roy L. Mindt, 82, Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Bismarck, North Dakota, ushered into the presence of Jesus on July 10, 2022, at Cypress Cove Rehab, Fort Myers.
Roy’s Memorial Celebration will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at Parkway Funeral Service in Bismarck. From 6-7 p.m. there will be a time of sharing and are all welcome to attend.
Private interment at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota
Roy was born August 19, 1939, in Blue Grass, North Dakota. He was the son of Albert and Emma (Kessler) Mindt. Roy graduated from Bismarck High School in 1959 and entered the Army in September of that year. He returned to Bismarck in 1961 and enrolled in classes at Bismarck State College graduating in 1963. He married Patricia Green on March 23, 1963, and they walked together hand-in-hand through life for 59 years. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of their two children, Cora and Jeffrey.
Roy was active in full-time farming in Sterling, North Dakota, from 1965-2007. Roy felt there was no better occupation than that of a farmer. Roy was active in Sterling Lions Club, Sterling School Board, Evangel board for many years including an active role in the current Evangel Church property on State Street.
For over 30 years, Roy and Pat enjoyed spending part of their winters at Fort Myers Beach, Florida, where their children and grandchildren enjoyed many family trips filled with time at the beach, on the tennis court, and many games.
Starting in the mid 1980’s, Roy began to play racquetball and tennis. He spent years playing at Capital Racquet and in Fort Myers where he developed many treasured friendships.
Roy will be greatly missed by his wife, Pat; children, Cora (Kelly) Lursen, Cape Coral, Florida; grandson, Jared (Megan) Lursen, Mill Creek, Washington; granddaughter, Karlee Lursen, Nashville, Tennessee; son, Jeff (Nicole) Mindt, grandsons, Campbell Mindt, Sawyer Mindt; and granddaughter, Jada Mindt, all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; niece, Vicky (Dennis) Wang, Fargo, North Dakota.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Heaven Helpers Soup Café, 220 North 23rd Bismarck, ND 58501, or the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 1825 46th Street Mandan, ND, 58554.
