Russell (Russ) Hornbacher

Russell (Russ) Greg Hornbacher, 68, of Bismarck, North Dakota went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 11, 2018.

Russell Greg Hornbacher, son of Harold and Darlene (Pfaff) Hornbacher, was born October 13, 1950 in Harvey, ND. He grew up in the Harvey, Anamoose areas and graduated Valedictorian with a perfect attendance from Anamoose High School in 1968. After graduation from Jamestown College in 1972; he served as a short-term missionary in Japan. He went to Bible College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It was there he meet and married Brenda Schierling. They lived in Canada where they started their family. Russ went on to get his masters degree in education and taught school in a number of communities in Canada and North Dakota.

He was an avid coin and token collector and was very knowledgeable about many ghost towns in North Dakota. He made a map of North Dakota displaying the tokens from many villages and towns in North Dakota for which he won first prize at the State Fair.

He loved people, and never met a stranger: Often sharing his faith in Jesus Christ with them.

Russ is survived by his children, Jon David Hornbacher (wife Joy), JoyDawn Corbiel (husband Chandler) and JoDayna Clark (husband Ryan) all of Leduc, Alberta, Canada; brothers, John (wife Tammy) of Harvey, ND, Dwight (wife Elaine) of Fessenden, ND; and sister, Roxy Seymour (husband Scott) of Lamesa, TX. Russ had nine grandchildren: Zoe, Micah, and Xander Hornbacher; Kaisaac, Kodie, Theo and Blakely Corbiel; Abigail and Brandt Clark all of Leduc, Alberta, Canada; one niece, Kyla Jo Hornbacher of Fessenden, ND; and nephews Joel Seymour of Clovis, NM, James Seymour of Brenham, TX, Jeremiah Hornbacher of Harvey, ND, and great-nephew, Tucker Calvin Hoffert of Fessenden, ND; and a host of relatives and friends.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents; son, Harold Cornelius; and nephew Calvin Hornbacher.

A funeral service is being planned for Friday, January 4, 2019, at 2:00 p.m at the Assembly of God Church in Harvey, ND.
