Ruth L. Mayer, 80, Bismarck, went to Heaven on May 21, 2018, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 am Friday, June 15, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Ruth was born in New Salem, ND, on September 1, 1937, to Cecil and Louise Kruger. She graduated from New Salem Public School and Dickinson State Teacher’s College. She was teaching in Hebron when she met the love of her life, Elmore T. Mayer, and were married 38 years and to this union two children were born. Ruth retired from teaching after the birth of their first child was born. She was a wonderful homemaker and mom. She loved to garden, sew, can, crochet, and was a fantastic cook, experimenting with all foods and ethnic groups. When Elmore retired they moved to Pick City and enjoyed their life up there and traveled. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed her many friends. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sara (Keith) Lesmeister, Mobridge, SD, along with grandchildren, Kody, Keiara, and Kylynn Lesmeister; her son Alan (Sarah) Mayer, Bismarck, along with grandchildren, Gracie Lippert, Mlan Mayer, Majestica Mayer, Cory Hurddel, and Mikayla Misky; and her sister, Jeanie (Ned) Herman, Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmore Mayer; her parents; and one brother, Keith Kruger.
