Ruth Sayler, 87, Bismarck, ND, entered into eternal rest September 20, 2017, at the NHC Rehabilitation Facility in North Augusta, SC. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Sylvia Bull officiating. Family will greet visitors from 10:00 am – 11:00 am Monday at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Ruth was born December 28, 1929, to Jacob and Bertha (Hartwig) Erbele in Beulah, ND. She grew up and went to school in Beulah and attended high school in Golden Valley, ND, where as a cheerleader, she met her soul mate and future husband and business partner, James Sayler. Following high school, Ruth moved to San Francisco, CA, with her parents. She married James Sayler in Reno, NV, on July 9, 1948. They returned to ND in 1951. From 1970-1997, Ruth worked as secretary and bookkeeper for Jim's Ready Mix and later it became Jim's Concrete Construction. Together, Ruth and Jim enjoyed family time at their lake retreat "Happy Acres" on Lake Sakakawea for 33 years. Ruth was an avid MN Twins and Vikings fan and liked watching golf. Other hobbies included working in her flower garden, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, embroidering, and Friday-night dominoes. Spending time with family was always an important part of her life. Ruth was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church. Ruth is survived by her son, Gary (Patty), Blaine, TN; daughters, Kathy (Tim) Peil, Vergas, MN; Cindy (Doug) Denter, Salcha, AK; Marcia (Jerry) Engelking, North Augusta, SC; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jim in 1997; sisters, Clara Thurston and Regina Kudroff; and brothers, Leo, Howard, and Eldor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in honor of Ruth Sayler to the Alzheimer’s Association of MN-ND Chapter in Mandan, ND.
