Ryan Eugene Mastel

Ryan Eugene Mastel, 31, Bismarck, left this earth to be with God on June 16, 2019 while in Alaska.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, June 27, at Parkway Funeral Service, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm.

He was born in Bismarck on July 29, 1987 to Joseph and Laura (Waliser) Mastel. Ryan graduated from Century High School and received post-secondary degrees in business and personal training. He was also licensed as a CDL driver. After graduating high school, Ryan lived and worked in Denver, CO. He also enjoyed the many adventurous outdoor activities the state had to offer, including fly fishing, hiking, snowboarding, and rafting.

In recent years, Ryan spent time traveling across the United States meeting people, sharing messages of faith, and enjoying new experiences and companionship with them. He had a generous spirit, often sharing his possessions along the way.

Back at home, he most enjoyed the numerous fishing trips taken with his dad and would be up for an ice fishing trip, no matter the weather. The only thing he enjoyed more than catching fish, was eating them when they returned home. Ryan loved to spend time with his niece. She stole his heart from the moment they first met, and she quickly learned he couldn’t say no to her. He took great joy in being an uncle. Ryan also had a playful, competitive spirit and so enjoyed beating his parents in games of cribbage and dominoes. His beaming smile will be dearly missed.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Joseph and Laura Mastel; sisters, Ashley (Garrett) Houghton and Alyssa (Ryan) Stupca; his niece, Harper Ann Houghton; grandmother, Betty Waliser; aunts and uncles, Sue (Tom) Doppler and Pam (Marv) Schonert; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Julia Mastel; and aunts, Linda (Gary) McArthur and Victoria Waliser.
