Scott Kelly Edinger, age 59, passed away at his home in Bismarck, ND, early last week. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, December 13, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Nather officiating. Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service at Parkway Funeral Service. Scott was born to Calvin and Ruth (Schimke) Edinger on March 18, 1959, in New Rockford, ND. After graduating from New Rockford High School in 1977, he attended the ND State School of Science in Wahpeton. Two years later, he moved to Bismarck, where he began work at Twin City Implement in Mandan, the ND Highway Department , Country Auto Clinic, and Pro Tune Plus. In 2002, he started a Matco Tools distributorship and quickly excelled within the company until his final day. Scott had reached many milestones with Matco earning him awards in the top two distributors in the nation for several years in a row. While he never bragged about his success, it was a feat to be exceptionally proud of. After moving to Bismarck, Scott quickly fell in love with his neighbor, Laurie Heitmann, and they were married in 1984. Together they had three children, Nick (30), Alex (27), and Mckenzie (24). Scott will always be remembered as a loving and involved father as well as a man of many talents. His artistic abilities being the most prominent. When he wasn’t at his easel you could find him practicing photography, biking, kayaking, skiing, playing piano, or learning something new. His gentle nature, brilliant mind, and dad jokes will be profoundly missed by everyone who had the great pleasure of knowing him. Scott is survived by his three children, Nick, Los Angeles, CA, Alex, Minneapolis, MN, and McKenzie, Minneapolis, MN, and their mother, Laurie Edinger, Bismarck; his mother, Ruth Edinger Walth, Bismarck; siblings, Gale (Stan) Sjol, Layton, UT, Jane (Curt) Ekren, Rugby, and Mark (Jill) Edinger, Carrington; and multiple nieces and nephew.
