Sheldon Clay Bennett

August 29, 1959 — August 8, 2020

Sheldon Clay Bennett, 60, McClusky, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Services will be held at a later date to be determined.

Sheldon was born on August 29, 1959 to Clayton and Gin (Coombs) Bennett in Turtle Lake. He grew up on the family farm north of McClusky with his sister, Tracy (Bennett) Jacobsen, and brother, Steve Bennett.

After high school, Sheldon worked for various businesses, including Holan’s Construction, Cenex and Polar Ware.

From 2000 to 2004, Sheldon was married to Dorothy Ripplinger.

Sheldon enjoyed working on cars and doing body work – he always seemed to have some project going. Due to health problems, Sheldon became a resident of Sheridan Memorial Home in 2015. He enjoyed the residents and staff as they came to appreciate his particular sense of humor. Sheldon’s quality of life improved with the wonderful care he received from the staff who became his friends and extended family.

He is joined in Heaven along with his parents, Clayton Bennett and Gin Bennett Rhoads; stepfather, O.D. Rhoads; and sister, Sheila Bennett.

Sheldon is survived by his sister, Tracy (Andrew) Jacobsen, Colo.; brother, Steve Bennett, Minn.; stepbrothers and sisters, Jerri Rhoads Van Sandt, Darcie Rhoads Crumpton, Gable Rhoads, Nathan (Debbie) Rhoads, Dan (Leslie) Rhoads and Dakota (Tom) Rhoads Lasher; nieces and nephews, Aaron Bennett (godson), North Dakota, Alex Gerk, Nebr., Haley Gerk, Colo., John Gerk, Utah, Jack Gerk, Colo., Dustin Danielie and Drue, Alaska, Casandra and Cody, Calif., Jade, Ind., China, North Carolina, Liam, North Dakota, Whitney and Jesse, North Dakota, Lane, North Dakota, Savannah, North Dakota, Kayne, North Dakota, Chase, Nevada, Chance and Sierra, Minn.; and many cousins and friends.

Those of us who grew up in a small town together share a brotherhood and Sheldon’s loss will be felt by many.

For Sheldon – John 14:2.
