Sigrid J. Engen

November 27, 1922 — December 18, 2017

Sigrid J. Engen, 95, Bismarck, ND, passed away on December 18, 2017, of natural causes. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 15, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck. The community is welcome to arrive at 1:00 pm to enjoy light refreshments and gather with the family prior to the service. Sigrid was born to Helge and Ruth Engen on November 27, 1922. She attended Bismarck grade schools and the School for the Deaf in Devils Lake, ND. Sigrid worked for the State of North Dakota Health Department for 41 years and enjoyed her work very much. She retired in June of 1990 and then did many other activities. She loved animals and enjoyed dog sitting for many people. She was an avid bowler and attended many bowling tournaments over the years. Sigrid was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and helped with quilting for the Lutheran World Relief. She dearly loved this work. Sigrid had many nieces and nephews and was an avid part of their lives and their families. Sigrid also had very special neighbors, Helen and Lee Miller. Our family is very thankful that Helen and Lee continued to visit Sigrid at the nursing home. Sigrid was preceded in death by her three sisters, Ethel Tosterud (Haaken), Gertrude Fisher (Adna), and Ruth Perman; as well as her two brothers, Helge Engen, Jr., and Gorden Engen (Pearl).
