Starla Von Schlabach, 64, Bismarck, became an angel on Oct. 3, 2020 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.
We will lay her amazing soul to rest at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. All services are open to anyone who would love to celebrate her life.
She was born on Sept. 1, 1956 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Lyle and Vonnie Lich.
Starla was raised in Montana and graduated from Custer High School in 1974. She moved on to the National College of Business in Rapid City, South Dakota, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She began working at a little bar in Custer where she eventually met her future husband, Larry. Starla moved to Bismarck, where her and Larry began to build their beautiful life together, marrying on October 20, 1979.
Starla worked for an insurance company until 1982, when their first child, Dustin, was born. Starla and Larry’s priority was their children from day one, so Starla was a stay-at-home mother from 1982 to 1991, when their second child, Lindsay, started Kindergarten. Starla worked for the Bismarck Public School district as an instructional aide for students with special needs for 28 years.
Starla loved spending time with family and friends and spent any time she could with her grandchildren, Nevaeh and Owen. She loved dancing with Larry, reading, taking care of her yard, collecting owls, and buying shoes (which she loved to try to keep a secret from Larry).
Starla and Larry are so grateful to have shared their lives as best friends and companions for over 40 years. Along with her soulmate, Larry, she is survived by their children Dustin (Suzi) and Lindsay (Tyler); their very special grandchildren Nevaeh, Owen, Lilly, and Olivia; her mother, Vonnie; siblings Shawn (Earl), Steve, and Sheila (Lyle); sister-in-law, Cheryl; brother-in-law, Lennie (Kathy); as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
She is met in heaven by her father, Lyle; mother and father in-laws Irma and Rex; grandparents; and other special family members and friends.
