Steven Scott Summerfield Eastgate

Steven Scott Summerfield Eastgate, 56, Glen Ullin, passed into the gracious, loving embrace of his Heavenly Father and to join his earthly father, on Thursday, June 14, 2018. Private family services are being held with interment at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. He was cared for by his mother until the end and by his companion and partner, Laura. Steve was born on February 2, 1962, in Bismarck, the son of Charles and Marion (Whitman) Eastgate. He attended Bismarck schools and while at Highland Acres Elementary developed a lifelong friendship with Jeff Schulz. As a young man, Steve worked on his uncle’s farm in Robinson and thoroughly loved farm life and being in the outdoors. Steve was married to Rhonda Pfenning and they had two sons, Dustin and Zachary. He later graduated from a golf course management program in Minnesota, where he met and married Laura. Steve was involved managing the grounds of courses in Minnesota and North Dakota and he took pride in his work. In addition, he enjoyed working construction. Although Steve struggled with the consequences of addiction in life, he had a quick wit, a good sense of humor, and he loved his family. Rest in peace Steve. Steve is survived by his devoted mother, Marion Eastgate; his loving companion, Laura; his sons, Dustin and Zachary (Rachel) Eastgate; his grandchildren; his brother, Bob (Pam) Eastgate; his sister, Deb (Bill) Pappas; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Chuck in 2014.
