Steven Kurtz

August 1, 1949 — January 2, 2025

Steven Howard Kurtz, 75, passed away on January 2, 2025, at St. Rose Care Center (Benedictine), LaMoure, ND.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, April 11, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Family will greet guests one hour prior to the celebration.

Burial will we be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 11, 2025, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Steve was born in Bismarck, ND on August 1, 1949, to Howard and Clara Kurtz.

He attended and graduated from Hazelton High School and attended college in Rapid City, SD where he participated in rodeo. Steve entered the Army and served in Germany from 1970 to 1972.

Steve married Cynthia Zoller on April 29, 1974, and together they had two children, Cody and Dustin.

He was employed with JB Construction for over 30 years. Steve and his wife owned and operated Hillcrest Acres campground for 10 years.

Steve loved to golf, fish, hunt, and camp.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cynthia; children, Cody Kurtz and Dustin (Kristyn) Kurtz; two granddaughters, Eastynn Kurtz and Jaelynn Kurtz; all of Bismarck; sister, Judy Saville of West Fargo; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Clara Kurtz.

The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure for their amazing care that they provided to Steve, and a huge thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley for assisting in his care the last few months.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
