Terry Lynn Staebell, Bismarck, North Dakota entered his heavenly home on March 13, 2025. His beloved wife Tammy was by his side when he passed. He was 66 years old.
The world became a brighter place on September 9, 1958, when Terry was born to Carolyn and Dennis Staebell in Pontiac, Michigan. One of his first adventures was visiting Niagara Falls as a baby! Thirteen months after he was born, his sister, Cheryl was born, and five years later their youngest brother, Todd was born. Terry grew up in Arvada, Colorado. He had a large extended family in South Dakota too. Being with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins was a highlight that both Terry and his whole family looked forward to each year. He also enjoyed skiing with his family and loved the beauty of Colorado and all its wildlife!
As a child, he became a great slalom water skier and enjoyed boating as the family had a weekend summer place in Jackson Lake, Colorado. He also played little league football and was active in track and field. Terry held a decades long record at his elementary school for both the 50-yard dash and the 100-yard dash. As he got older, he ran high hurdles as well. He loved to play golf 2 to 3 times a week.
He was also a huge Denver Broncos fan!
Terry excelled in academics he graduated from Arvada High School in 1976. He attended the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado and received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Petroleum Refinery Engineering. He even graduated with honors!
Out of college, he accepted a job from Amoco. It took him to Casper, Wyoming where he met his wife, Tammy Kostelecky. They married on June 7, 1991, and became a family of three as Tammy also had a son Mitchell. Their son Kellan was born on March 1st, 1992. The family moved many times during Terry’s career They finally settled in Bismarck, North Dakota where Terry worked at the Mandan Refinery as a Process Engineer. He would work there leading the Technical Engineering Group until his retirement in 2018 when he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, which he fought with courage, dignity, and his amazing Christian faith.
Both he and Tammy enjoyed their Arizona home in the winter. They delighted in all the wildlife there and being outside with their three dogs, enjoying the beauty of the nature around them. They loved swimming in the neighborhood pool as well as the company of friends. Terry golfed a lot with his parents who reside there, and family would often come to visit. This was something that he would always cherish!
Terry felt blessed that both his son and stepson found their loves and married! That was when both Ambree and Krystal joined the family. On April 21, 2023, their grandson Owen was born to Kellan and Ambree. Terry and Tammy spent as much time as they could being with their grandson and Terry became Papa to Owen. This was joy of his life! Terry also upheld a weekly tradition of meeting with his son Kellan at Buffalo Wild Wings to catch up on life with each other.
