Theresa (Grensteiner) Leier, 87, Bismarck, formerly of Tappen, died peacefully at CHI St. Alexius on Oct. 15, 2020.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tappen, with Fr. Peter Sharpe officiating. Theresa’s funeral service will be recorded and uploaded for future viewing.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19 at the church, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Burial will be at the Fisher Cemetery, Tappen.
She was born in Emmons County on Jan. 25, 1933, the daughter of Philip and Elizabeth Grensteiner. She attended grade and high school as well as played basketball for the Braddock Bobcats, graduating in 1952. From that time until her marriage she was employed at Kuhn’s Grocery and taught rural school for one year.
Theresa married Leonard Leier on Sept. 22, 1953 at St. Katherine’s Catholic Church, Braddock. In the Fall 1954, they purchased and moved to their farm 13 miles south of Tappen. In 2015 they moved to Primrose Retirement Communities in Bismarck.
Theresa was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tappen and a member of St. Paul’s Altar Society in which she held all officer positions. She taught Sunday School and was active in the homemaker’s organization for a time. She served as an alternate member on the Tappen Public School Advisory Board.
Theresa enjoyed Word Search Puzzles, watching game shows, baking, dancing, playing cards, and listening to polka party. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family, especially her Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. No one ever left Theresa’s home hungry. The Grandkids particularly enjoyed the soft popcorn and Keebler Fudge Striped Cookies.
She is survived by her children, Joyce (Russ) Matter, Moorhead, Minn., Colleen (Milton) Weippert, Karen (Dale) Dockter, Pat (Val) Leier, LaVonne (Dan) Mittleider all of Tappen, Sarah (Randy) Selvig, Rolette; daughter-in-law, Beth Leier, Dawson; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, with one due in December; sister, JoAnne Glatt; and sister-in-law Laurie Grensteiner; and several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard of 65 years; son, Dalles; great-grandson, Peter Leo Leier; her parents; sister, Alyce; and brothers, Andy, George, and Henry.
