Thomas Adam Jundt died peacefully Friday, April 7, 2023, at the age of 84.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, April 13, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 520 Raymond St. Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. A rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Tom was born October 2, 1938, in Bismarck ND to Adam and Scholastica (Matz) Jundt. He attended St. Mary’s High School in Bismarck, graduating in 1956. He married Agatha Hilzendeger February 11, 1957, in Napoleon ND. He worked for the Oscar H. Will Seed Company during High School. Tom also enlisted in the National Guard during High School. He worked for Vantine’s Paint and Glass until January 1969, which is when he began his career with the National Guard. Tom started as a full time Administrative Supply Technician and was the Maintenance Manager when he retired in 1998 at the rank of CW4. After retirement, he sold cars at Stan Puklich Chevrolet for a few years. He also worked as a clerk during the ND legislative sessions for many years, which he enjoyed very much. He lived in Bismarck his entire life except for nine months when he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri during the Berlin Crisis in 1961-62. His family joined him while stationed there.
Tom enjoyed music and singing very much. He sang with the Bismarck Elks chorus for many years and sang for many, many weddings and funerals over the years. He was also a song leader at St. Anne’s Parish and sang in the choir at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. He and Aggie went on many bus trips all over the country, a train trip to the West coast, a trip to Hawaii and many trips with their children and grandchildren. He worked very hard and always had a very well-maintained yard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family.
Tom is survived by his wife of 66 years, Agatha; his daughters, Nadine Jundt, Bismarck and Wanda (Mark) Giedd, Washburn ND; his sons, Michael (Lynn) Jundt, Savage MN, Mark (Holly) Jundt, Bismarck, and Paul (Beverly) Jundt Bismarck; grandchildren, Heidi (Matt) Grenz Mandan, Ashley (Trevor) Woolley, Underwood ND, Shane Giedd, Washburn, Brandon Jundt, Bismarck and Brock (Kellye) Ballweber Bismarck; great-grandchildren, Noah, Asher and Elijah Grenz, Mandan and Liam Ballweber Bismarck. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Pat Fogel, Carol Ann Tedore and David (Jan) Jundt; sister-in-law, Leona (Duane) Friedig; brothers-in-law, Leo (Carol) Hilzendeger, Larry (Connie) Hilzendeger, Tony (Mary) Hilzendeger, Willie (Angie) Hilzendeger, Jim (Mary Lou) Hilzendeger, Eddie (Shirley) Hilzendeger; sisters-in-law, Betty Hilzendeger and Florence Hilzendeger; brother-in-law Ray Friedig.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Marcella and Wendelin Hilzendeger; brothers-in-law, Ray Hilzendeger and Joe Hilzendeger; sisters-in-law, Betty Friedig and Regina Hilzendeger.
