After a long and painful struggle with health issues Thomas F. Weiss went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 18, 2025.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, Feb. 22, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck.
Tom was born and raised in Center, ND. As a young man he had a few hobbies, hunting, hunting, and more hunting and a little fishing. He loved driving to Montana to visit his sister and brother-in-law, Mike and Carol Lantis, he adored his nieces and nephew, Chris, Kim and Ty. Going to races, hunting, Pow Wow’s and fishing were their favorite pastimes.
Ever the romantic Tom and Doris married on Valentine’s Day, 1989. This brought the bachelor a new set of activities, husband and full-time dad. Jennifer, his infant daughter, was not a part of the physical household but an important member of the family. On January 14, 1989, Tom officially adopted Wayne and Kelly. Throw a Brittany pup, (Tasha) and Siamese cat, (Thomas) into the mix and we were a dynamic fusion! Camping was a new adventure for us, suffice it to say putting up a borrowed tent, with no instructions, was not a shining moment for him. We had many adventures and laughable moments as seen in the photo display.
In the 90’s a lot changed, Tom and Doris found the Lord, HE was not lost but we sure were. Big changes occurred, not all were easy but with love and learned patience we all persevered. Tom and close friend, Tim Geiger began a home church which grew to become Cornerstone Community Fellowship. During this time, Tom and Wayne went to Promise Keepers in Boulder, CO; and other great spiritual events were commonplace in the Weiss lives. In ’97, Tom’s health issues began, he faced several serious surgeries but always rallied back to make hunting season come fall. Some of Tom’s most treasured memories were hunting and fishing with his son and grandsons. Upon retiring from BNI Coal in 2010, Tom and Doris moved to Bismarck and his new hobbies became putzing in the yard, garden and garage and of course hunting and fishing. He also took up canning! Two items on his bucket list happened; in 2017 a cruise to Alaska and being drawn for a ND Moose Tag (and filled)!
Tom will be deeply missed by his family numerous cousins, great nieces / nephews and friends.
He leaves behind numerous loved family and friends including his wife, Doris R. Weiss (Grenz); children and their spouses, Wayne R. Weiss (Stephanie), Kelly J.
