Joyce “Tip” Reichert, 79, Bismarck, passed away at her home on May 2, 2017, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 9, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 519 Raymond St., Bismarck, with Rev. John Guthrie officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 10, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm Monday, May 8, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Tip was born in Duluth, MN, on March 22, 1938, to parents Eddie and LeEtta (Johnson) French. A graduate of the College of Saint Scholastica Duluth, Tip married Chuck Reichert of Mandan, ND, in Duluth on September 2, 1961. The couple resided in Duluth where they raised seven children and four foster children. In 1989 the couple relocated to Bismarck which became their present home. A calling for social change and compassion led Tip to a career in social work. Through her work Tip became an advocate of pregnant teenagers, a champion for adoptive parents and a grief counselor for those who lost a child or loved one. Her unwavering support of those in need and the underrepresented earned the respect of all who knew her. Her career highlights include the St. Scholastica Sister Ann Edwards Alumni Award, the Duluth St. Mary’s Hospital Employee of the Year Award, and Junior League Sustainer of the Year Award. Tip’s belief in a life of service led her to volunteer for many organizations and causes throughout her life. She co-founded Parents Anonymous of Duluth, volunteered with God’s Child of Bismarck, Ministries on the Margin, and up to her death co-directed the Bismarck Diocese African Mission with her husband. Her mantra of “Go Change the World” echoes throughout her life and especially to her grandchildren. Left to cherish her life are her husband, Chuck, Bismarck; her children, Lucy Reichert (Sam Foss), Martha Reichert (Steve Huebschwerlen), Mathew Reichert (Shelly), all of Bismarck, Posy Stingle, Duluth, MN, Mark Reichert (Tracy), Chaska, MN, Sarah Reichert (Jeff), Red Wing, MN, Polly Ward (Chris), Shorewood, IL; her grandchildren, Cole, Casey, Sarah, Sam (Alissa), Maddy, Ally, Charles, Chris, Katy, Andy, Grace, Lucy, Tommy, LeEtta, Molly, Eddie, Maggie, Mick, Patrick, and Annie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and LeEtta French; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Hope Reichert.
