Tommy John "Tom" Johnson, 52, Bismarck, passed away on August 30, 2024 at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck.
Private family services will be held.
Tom was born in Bismarck on March 16, 1972, to Keith and Gloria (Goehner) Johnson. He grew up in Bismarck and attended Pioneer Elementary, Simle Middle School and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1991. Tom had a strong work ethic and started his first job with Skippers as a sophomore in high school. He held various roles throughout the years at Skippers, Joey’s Only, Domino's, Schwan’s Home Delivery and Speedy, before returning to Domino's, working there for almost 25 years.
Named after a baseball player, the love for the game of baseball and other sports stuck with Tom throughout his life. He was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He also enjoyed playing and umpiring softball, bowling and going to the shooting range, which encompassed his love for guns. Tom also enjoyed an occasional trip to Prairie Knights Casino.
On January 28, 1999, Tom became a proud father to Cody and he passed his love for sports, WWE Wrestling, shooting and much more. Their father-son relationship was anchored on hard love, respect and long “Dad lectures”, which helped shape Cody into who he is today.
A few words used to describe Tom are teddy bear, story teller, funny and giving. He had quite a sense of humor and would give nicknames to those he loved, a few being Bubba, Dakota, Goldie Locks, Moody, Smokey Bob and so many more, some being appropriate and some may be not, but if he gave you a nickname or two, you knew he really cared about you!
Tom is survived by his son, Cody and his fiancé LaKeisha Leingang; mother, Gloria Johnson and sister, Joy Johnson, all of Bismarck. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends and those who called him Uncle Tom. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Keith Johnson; Maternal grandparents, Emil and Kay Goehner; and paternal grandparents, Karl and Dolly Johnson.
