Valda Mary Larson, 105, Bismarck was welcomed into Heaven by Jesus on May 22, 2019.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 29, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 519 Raymond St., Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm Tuesday, May 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm.
Val was born in Pennington County Minnesota on February 20, 1914 to Charles and Hattie Stucy. Val graduated from Janesville Minnesota High School in 1932 and attended Mankato Business College.
Her first job was with the North Dakota Adjutant General’s Office. During that time, she met and married Bob Larson, Sr. on April 17, 1937 and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Val was a stay-at-home mom to 6 kids.
She was a charter member of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, a member of the St. Monica Mission Group, was a Brownie Scout leader and a volunteer at both Cathedral Grade School and Heartview. Val and Bob were members of the Nakota Dance Club and 40 Club, along with her beloved bridge groups. Val joined Mothers Club in 1938 as a charter member and was an active member all her life. Val was a member of Apple Creek Country Club and was Club Champion in 1965. She was a proud lifetime member of the Dakota Zoo and the Elks Club.
Val is survived by her six children, Barbara Sweeney, Mary Dixon, Deb Larson, Bob (Jan) Larson, Brad (Dee) Larson and Betsy (John) Romano, along with her grandchildren Pat, David, Dan, Charlie, Wendy, Corey, Scott, Heather, Nick, Kenny, Amy, Tom, Danny and Amanda. She also had 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Val was preceded in death by her husband Bob and her four siblings, Vivian, Veronica, Charles and Bonnie.
Memorials may be given to the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit.
