Valeria “Larry” Iverson, 84, Bismarck, died surrounded by her family on December 1, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 6, at Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Tom Grafsgaard officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 5, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Larry was born February 4, 1933, in Mandan, ND, the daughter of Frank and Clementine (Leingang) Ressler. She was the 11th of 14 children. She was raised in Mandan, attended St. Joseph Grade School, and graduated from Mandan High School in 1951. After graduating from high school, she worked for the Morton County Agents for a short time and then moved to Glendive, MT, to work for the Montana State Employment Service. While in Glendive, she met Iver Iverson and they were married on July 19, 1952. In 1953 they moved to Williston, ND where she worked for Robert Gibb & Sons and then for Farmers Union Grain & Supply. Four years later they moved to Grand Forks, ND, as Iver had accepted a position with Lofts Inc. In 1958 their daughter, JoAnn was born followed by a son, Kent in 1960. They moved to Bismarck, ND in 1961 where Iver managed The Tire Mart for Hedahl’s until January 1963 when Iver purchased the business. Larry did the office work for The Tire Mart for the next 24 years. After Iver’s death on December 7, 1986, Larry ran the business for 5 years before she liquidated it in February 1992 and retired. Larry was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was President of the Bismarck Ladies Auxiliary twice, in 1967/1968 and again in 2003/2004. She was the Assistant State Secretary twice. She performed the local and district secretary responsibilities for many years. She also volunteered at the University of Mary in the Alumni Office for 4 years. Larry dearly loved her siblings, her two children, her three grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed being with and working alongside people. She was a great story teller with a sense of humor that made everyone laugh. She enjoyed reading and always was in the middle of a best seller. She also enjoyed travelling with Iver. They went to Hawaii twice, the Caribbean three times, Mexico twice and Europe five times. Larry is survived by her son Kent, Bismarck, ND; her daughter, JoAnn (Leon) West of Brandon, SD; three grandchildren, Conrad West, Brookings, SD, Devan West and Sommer West, both of Brandon, SD; and one sister, Sister Denise Ressler, OSB, of Bismarck. Another sister, Nettie Monroe, passed away less than 24 hours after Larry, on December 2, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Iver; her parents; eight brothers, Joseph, Al, Peter, Michael, Clement, David, Leo and James; and three sisters, Ermie Peterson, Greta Swindler, and Marie German.
