Valoyce Miller

March 3, 1935 — August 1, 2019

Although sad to leave her loved ones behind, Valoyce Miller, 84, rejoiced on August 1, 2019, when she left this earth for her heavenly home.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 6, at English Lutheran Church, Tuttle, with Rev. Allen Wagner officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm Monday, August 5, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Ave., Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 6:00 pm.

Burial will be at Tuttle Cemetery.

She was born to Marvin and Rande Alm on March 3, 1935, and was raised and educated in Regan, ND. On June 22, 1952, she married Bruce Miller and together they farmed and ranched in Tuttle, ND. She was a praiseworthy homemaker, living a true farm-to-table existence as she cooked, baked, gardened and canned. When the work was done, she (and Bruce) enjoyed the camaraderie of their good friends and neighbors; camping, fishing, bowling, and playing cards. She enjoyed numerous hobbies including reading, sewing, crocheting, and doing puzzles. While growing up in Regan, one of Valoyce’s fondest memories was playing basketball. She maintained a love of watching sporting events for much of her life, but nothing compared to watching her grandkids at the court, the diamond or the rink. She rarely missed baking a birthday cake for her grandchildren and made beautiful quilts for each of them.

Valoyce greatly enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona, where she and Bruce lived for about 13 years. When Bruce’s health declined they bought a home in Bismarck, where they resided for several years before moving to Edgewood Vista. Later, Valoyce moved to Edgewood Mandan where she eventually passed away. (It would be wrong to not mention her beloved dog, Lucy, who brought her much peace during the years they lived in Bismarck.)

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg (Roxy) Miller of Longville, MN,/Gold Canyon, AZ, and Tim (Delaine) Miller of Forsyth, MT, and one daughter and son-in-law, Deb (Rod) Sargent, Hazen, ND; eight grandchildren, Kristy Loeks, Barnesville, MN, Jason (Nadine) Miller, Plymouth, MN, Jordan (Jasmine) Sargent, Hazen, ND, Ben (Savannah), Bismarck, ND, Hannah (Jonathon), Streeter, ND, Trista Miller, Billings, MT, Austin Miller, Bozeman, MT, Lanny Miller, Big Fork, MT, and twelve great-grandchildren, Cole, Connor, Eleanor, Amelia, Addyson, Brielle, Olivia, Kannon, Sebastian, Knox, Emerick and Eadie; sister-in-law, Shirley Alm, Finley Bernette (Alan) Bowen, Miami, FL, brother-in-law Leo (Jan) Miller, Cour d’ Alene, ID, and Duane Miller, Minot, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; one son, Robin; her parents, Marivn and Rande Alm; one brother, Merlin Alm; one sister, Darlene Rosendahl; and Brett Loeks (Kristy’s husband).

Valoyce was a quiet and gentle soul and in these last years, dug her heels of faith in and handled each new challenge without complaint, maintaining a kindness and strength admired by her family and caregivers alike. The day after she passed the Edgewood director said of her, “She carried a solid faith inside of her that was unspoken, but remarkable.”   Well done, good and faithful servant!
