Velma Lucille Lowden, 90, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 at The Fountains Assisted Living Facility in Yuba City, California.
She was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on January 17, 1921 to Van and Vada Scott. She had lived in Sutter County for 8 years. Prior to moving to the Yuba-Sutter area, she lived in Brookings and Grants Pass, Oregon. During WWII she worked at Rohr's Aircraft Company, wing assembly division, in National City, California as a "Rosie the Riveter". After the war she was a homemaker for 71 years.
Velma was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and loyal friend to all that knew her.
She was survived by her son Darrell "Ray" (Stacy) Baker of Marysville, CA, daughter Barbara (Dave) McCord of Ketchikan, Alaska, and friend Tony (Janet) McGrath of Grants Pass, Oregon, 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Velma was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Ariel Lowden, her father Van, mother Vada, brothers; Ralph, Pete, Bob, and Lee Scott, sisters; Marie Nesloney and Wilma Johnson, and great-grandson Joshua Overstreet.
