Vernon L. Jensen was born April 14, 1964 in Bismarck, the son of Vernon and LaVonne (Benedict) Jensen. He was raised in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School. He enjoyed doing volunteer work such as Meals on Wheels and visiting the Humane Society.
Vernon was best known for his big bear hugs and huge heart. Vernon taught us how to be happy because he took joy in the simple things in life- sharing a meal with his family, jamming out to his favorite tunes on long drives, and going to the casino and Harley shop. We could look to Vernon as an example of perseverance and inner strength, as he had to fight battles and limitations that would crush many of us. He taught us what it is to be strong, because strength is not found in the toughest, biggest or fastest; strength is found in the one who keeps fighting and keeps trying every day, long after others give up. Vernon loved his people with all of his heart; he always saw the best in people and loved without condition or expecting anything in return. He taught us more about life and love than we ever could have taught him. We will forever be grateful to the staff at Pride Inc., Support Systems and Caring Edge hospice for their care of Vernon throughout the years. A special think you to Kayla Felchle for providing end of life care for Vernon, we will never forget your unmatched care and compassion during this difficult time.
Vernon is survived by his twin sister, Vonnie Schwartzbauer; sisters Annette Jensen (Gary Hoffer), Barb (Terry) Thomsen, Sandy (Gary) Meidinger, Susan Collins; brothers Lloyd Jensen and Victor Jensen; Nieces Jenn (Jeff) Frankeberger, Kayla (Zach) Wagner; nephew Brandon (Amanda) Schwartzbauer; 12 other nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews- Logan, Patrick, Bryn, Luke, Edyn, Griffin, Arya, Brooklyn, Berklie, and Ezra; and several other great nieces and nephews along with special caretaker and friend, Girard Glaser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
