Victoria Sloan Bayless (Vicky), 59, of Bismarck, died June 26, 2020, after fighting serious illness for many years.
She was born in Fargo, North Dakota, and spent her early childhood in the state. Her family moved to Gillette, Wyoming, where Vicky graduated from high school. She excelled in swimming, winning medals both at school meets and around the state for Amateur Athletic Union. She was also a candy striper at the local hospital where her interest in nursing led her to a career.
Vicky worked in a nursing home in Shelton, Washington, while attending nursing school. She married Michael Bayless there. They moved to the Oakland, California area where she continued her nursing education, then worked for the Kaiser Hospital System for over 20 years. Vicky had two daughters, Kristin and Emlie.
In 2012 she moved back to North Dakota where she lived until her death. Vicky had a love of flowers and plants, animals and sports, especially Major League Baseball. She astounded people with her knowledge of the players and their stats. Her favorite team was the San Francisco Giants. Vicky’s cat, Posey, was named after famed Giants catcher, Buster Posey.
