Walter Hills, 89, Bismarck, died Saturday, September 23, 2017, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:30 am Friday, September 29, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, September 28, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck. Burial will be at Fisher Cemetery, Tappen. Walter Hills was born March 22, 1928, at Steele, ND, the son of Benjamin and Caroline (Knutson) Hills. He graduated from Tappen High School in 1945. Walter worked for the Veterans Administration in Fargo for two years and was rural school teacher in Stutsman and Kidder Counties for four years. He worked for Job Service of North Dakota for 30 years. After retiring from Job Service, he worked for seven years as a hearing assistant for the Social Security Administration. Walter was a member of the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security and a member of the Bismarck Elks for 50 years. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and previous co-workers. Walter cared very deeply for his family and extended family and will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Walter was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Hills; his mother, Caroline Hills; brother, Kenneth Hills; and sisters, Harriet Hills, Alice (Ralph) Hackman, and Ileen (Irvin)Kleven.
