Wayne Belile

June 19, 1933 — November 21, 2019

Wayne E. Belile, 86, Sterling, ND, passed away peacefully in his home on November 21, 2019, while sitting in his favorite recliner.

Wayne was born on June 19, 1933, in Bismarck, ND, the son of Chauvin and Bernice (Schmidkunz) Belile. He grew up with his eleven little brothers and sisters in Driscoll, ND. Wayne joined the US Navy as a young man before marrying Sylvia (Dinius) Belile on February 1, 1954, in Port Smith, VA. They made their home in Tacoma, WA, where Wayne was stationed until they moved back to ND. Together, they had four children. Wayne served in the Korean War and was a member of the US Navy for eight years.

Wayne worked for the Patterson Land Company before moving to Sterling, ND, where he and Sylvia ran the Belile Standard gas station for a couple years. Wayne went on to work in construction with Northern Improvement before retiring. However, the real work began when he was retired and decided to train his team of Holsteins to pull his covered wagon. Wayne also enjoyed training horses to ride and raising pigs. He spent many hours visiting with friends over coffee at the truck stop in Sterling, ND. Wayne always had a few anecdotes to share with those who were lucky enough to know him. Wayne frequently looked forward to phone calls and the time he shared with his siblings that he cared so deeply for. Wayne always had an open door and welcomed an abundant number of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, neighbors and special friends into his home to share stories and lots of laughs.

Wayne and Sylvia would often help Santa by dressing up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus and spreading Christmas cheer for countless boys and girls, including their eight grandchildren. When the love of his life, Sylvia, passed away in 2012, Wayne continued to share his jolly talents by dressing as Santa for his numerous great grandchildren and many families at Community Action in Bismarck, ND.

Wayne is survived by his three daughters, Alberta (Ronnie) Wagner, Harvey, ND, Donna (Ken) Morrison, Robinson, ND, Dorleen (Tom) Wolbaum, Bismarck, ND; his sisters, Garnet Berg, Sterling, ND, Leila Carlson, AK, Roxene (Richard) LeMieux, AZ, Ardeen Brenniese, Bismarck, ND; his brothers, Curtis Belile, VA, Donald Belile, SD, Chauvin Jr. (Judy) Belile, CA, Art (Edna) Belile, Bismarck, ND, Jerry (Dorothy) Belile, Carrington, ND; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria Wanner, Dickinson, ND, Virginia (Dennis) Potts, MT, Janice (Butch) Bestrom, MT, Marlene Dinius, MN, Melvin (Cheryl) Dinius, OR; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many special friends, family members, and fellow coffee drinkers.
