Wayne was born Sept 7, 1938 in Glen Ullin to William and Hilda (Gietzen) Duppong. He was the oldest of 10 children and grew up on the family farm northwest of Glen Ullin.

He attended St Clements grade school in Haymarsh and graduated from Glen Ullin High School. He learned hard work doing daily chores, milking and caring for the dairy cows, and doing general farm labor. He helped out on the family farm and relatives' farms after graduation and was already known for his mechanical, welding, and repair skills. He then enrolled in a Diesel and Mechanical repair course. Wayne joined the National Guard HQ 164th. He was called to active duty in 1960 as the Berlin Crisis developed.

Wayne married Donna Morman on August 29, 1964 at St. Clements Catholic Church in Haymarsh, ND. They were married 58 years and raised four children. Wayne had a strong Catholic faith which was a central part of the family life. He was an active member at St Mary's Catholic Church serving as an usher for many years and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Wayne supported his family as a mechanic at Davis Chevrolet where he worked from 1961 to 1973. He then joined Century Motors as a Shop Foreman. He was one of the first ASE Certified technicians in Bismarck-Mandan, specializing in German cars repairing VW, Audi, Subaru, Porsche cars. He achieved the level of Audi Master technician becoming the regional expert and developed a dedicated customer base until his retirement. He was well known in the region for his expertise and knowledge. In the 70's, Wayne was an excellent asset to the Porsche and sports car owners in the area who ran their cars in the Autocross races.

He loved working on whatever he could! Being a selfless man, he was always helping friends and family work on anything ranging from farm machinery to cars, trucks and all forms of racecars including sprint cars or anything else that had an engine. He continued working in his garage fixing anything that had a motor until his passing. His talents didn't stop there. He was also skilled in building and repairing anything regarding home remodel, home construction and woodworking.

He was also a gardening expert stemming from his agricultural roots and could be found working in his garden in his spare time. He kept Donna busy preserving the bountiful harvest from the results of his venture.

Wayne is survived by his children: Lee (Deb) Duppong, Bismarck, KayAnn (Ray) Ludlum, Beulah, Lowell Duppong, Bismarck, and Jennifer Duppong, Bismarck; grandchildren: Stephanie, Tanner, Mindy, Shelby, Kevin, Leanna, Noah, and Ainsley and 10 great-grandchildren.
