Wendelin Vincent Schwartz, 84, Bismarck, formerly of Fargo, passed away October 4, 2017, at Marian Manor, Glen Ullin, ND. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 9, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Ave., Bismarck. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Wendelin “Rocky” was born January 31, 1933, in Solen, ND, the son of Ferdinand and Barbara Schwartz. He grew up and attended school in Solen. Following school he enlisted in the Army and was an Army Korean War vet from 1951 to 1954, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Rocky married Beverly Zeretzke on August 2, 1954, and they had six children. He worked at the VA Hospital and Ulteig Engineering in Fargo, and ran a small hotel in downtown Fargo in the late 70s. Rocky was a lifetime member of DAV, VFW, the American Legion, and was a Fargo reserve policeman. He loved to play cards with friends and family, attend auctions, and go to Polka fests with his wife and friends. Most of all, he was proud of his kids and grandkids. Rocky is survived by his children, Robin (Carlotta), Fargo, Daniel (Linda), Buckeye, AZ, Lisa (Willie) Comstock, Savage, MN, Michelle Haiby, Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Cassie, Chelsey (Tim), Nicole, Michael (Kelly), Jennifer (Patrick), Christopher, and Matthew; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary (Vernon), Rose, and Shirley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his sons, Jeff and Paul; parents; three brothers; one sister; and one brother-in-law.
