Wesley William Hoopman, 84, of Bismarck, was surrounded by family as he passed away on August 19, 2018, at St Alexius Hospital. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Avenue, Bismarck, where a vigil/rosary service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, Aug 24th at Corpus Christi Church, 1919 N 2nd St, Bismarck, ND. Burial will follow at St Mary’s Cemetery. Wes was born at home in Bottineau County to Chris Hoopman, Sr and Myrtle (Sis) Colborn Hoopman on September 12, 1933. He went to school at McCann Country School and in Dunseith, graduating 8th grade. He married Janet Greslivold on September 11, 1955, in Minot, ND. He worked as a truck driver for 63 years. He married Dorothy Mathern-Heilman on December 21, 1984, in Bismarck, ND. Wes drove truck for 16 different companies, driving an estimated 9.5 million miles during his career (which equals driving to the moon and back 23 times). He is survived by Dorothy, his wife; daughters: Nancy Hernandez of SC, Julie (Greg) Peterson of CA, and Amy (Chad) Dockter, MN. Sons: Douglas (Lorette) Hoopman, ND and Dennis AZ. Sisters: Ladonna Solmonson (Doug) and Meryle Vinje (Allan), ND. Brothers: Ken (Jean), Ron (Jill), and Gary (Mary) of MN and Garrett (Deb) of ND. Grandchildren: Samantha Hernandez, Christyann Hernandez, Lindsey (Jonathan) Lewis, Matthew Weber, Melissa Weber, Alexis Hoopman, Travis Hoopman, Kylie Dockter, and Jacob Dockter. Great grandchildren are Tristen Fowler, Evelyn Lewis, and Teagan Lewis. Stepchildren are Joyce (Cliff) Polensky, MN; Duane (Carrie) Heilman, CA; Ken Heilman, FL; Mary Kay (Pat) Johnston, MO; Kevin Heilman, MD; Steve (Marie) Heilman, CA; Lisa (Stephen)Faulkner, NB, Canada; Bob Heilman, ND. Step-grandchildren are Lee (Kirsta) Polensky, Angie (Mike) Schwardt, Erica (Beau) Polensky, Sara Polensky (Nathan), Katie (Scott) Briscoe, Amy Claire (Shawn) Morrison, Shelly Heilman,Tim (Crystal)Johnston, Renetta (Andrew) Gibson, Caleb Johnston, Joshua Johnston, Jessica Heilman, Daniel Heilman, Kim Heilman, Jake Hatley, Jessica Carnes and twenty-four step-great-granchildren. Wes was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don and Chris Jr, baby daughter Debbie, his first wife Janet, step-son, Jeff Heilman; step daughter, Kathy Jo Heilman, step grandsons, Beau Polensky, and Thomsa Davidson.
