William “Bill” Jundt, age 82, of Bismarck, ND, passed away on Jan. 1, 2025 as his family sat by his side singing “Amazing Grace”.
A visitation will be held at from 5pm to 7pm with a prayer service starting at 7pm on Monday, January 6th at Parkway Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, January 7th, at Parkway Funeral service, at 2330 Tyler Parkway. A luncheon will follow from 12pm to 1:15pm. After the luncheon, a burial service will be held at the ND Veterans Cemetery, South of Mandan, at 2pm.
Bill was born in his parents home, in Bismarck ND on Sept. 2nd, 1942. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and joined the Navy in 1960. William served from July 1960 until June 1963. During the Cuban Missile Crisis he served on the USS Newman Perry.
After being discharged from the military, Bill attended Capital Commercial College where he studied accounting.
On Aug. 13th, 1966 Bill married the love of his life, Carol Stebner from Wishek, ND. Bill and Carol enjoyed each others company for 58 years during which time they had 2 children, Naomi and Sam, and several foster children, among whom were David Rodenkirck and David Schlittenhardt. For several years Bill put his accounting degree to work as an Office Manager before taking on the roll as the property manager for College Park Apartments while working as a supervisor for Facility Management at the ND State Capitol Building, where he took great pride in ensuring the Christmas Tree was properly displayed on the sides of the Capitol Building at Christmas. In the fall of 2013, Bill finally retired so he and Carol could move to Mesa AZ. In 2020 they made the decision to move back to Bismarck to be closer to family and friends.
Among Bill’s favorite hobbies were playing tennis, rooting for the Vikings and loving every person God placed in his path. He had a true passion for making friends and helping those in need. In 2000 Bill was the recipient of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Service.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carol Jundt, daughter and son in law Naomi and Ken Belohlavek, son and daughter in law Sam and Wendy Jundt, grand children Ali and Don Scott, Steven and Eva Jundt, and Tori Jundt, sisters Marian Hochhalter and Dorothy Wicks, and brother Ralph Jundt as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends who loved him very much.
He is preceded in death by his father Kasmer Jundt, his mother Catheryn Jundt, Sister Loretta Schlittenhardt and brother Thomas Jundt.
Bill will be greatly missed by all who new him.
