Ardella Kay Bechtle “Ardy” passed away Wednesday April 20, 2022 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. Family will begin greeting guests an hour before services start.
Ardy Nupen was born December 16, 1933 to Arthur “Art” Nupen and Olga (Sloan) Nupen on the family ranch below the Killdeer Mountains. She attended country school west of Killdeer and graduated from Killdeer High School.
Ardy moved to Bismarck and began working for Provident Life Insurance where she met and married Neil Bechtle on June 24, 1954 in Killdeer. They settled in Bismarck and began a family.
She also worked for many years at D’ Joyce Photography and for the Radisson Hotel before she retired.
Ardy enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, horseback riding and walks. She was a very caring, patient, and kind person who loved her family and friends. She was always willing to help out with volunteer work and to lend a hand to anyone in need.
She will be remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend that always had time to visit, play a game of cards, put a puzzle together, work in her garden, or just sit and have a cup of coffee.
Ardy is survived by her son, John (Cheryl) Bechtle, Bismarck; daughter, Jane (Frank) Melchior, Almont; son, Jim (Liz) Bechtle, Lincoln, NE; sisters-in-law, Sidney (Arnold) Nupen, and Donna (Rodger) Nupen; grandchildren, Emily (TJ) Olson, Joshua Bechtle, Bismarck; Lindsey (Tyler) Ashley, Hannah (Casey) Wolf, New Salem; Alex (Eric) Reznicek, Joseph Bechtle, Lincoln NE; great-grandchildren, Cailin, Kyla Olson; Harper Bechtle; Rhiett Ashley; Kimber Wolf and Annie James Reznicek (expectant).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil; father, Art Nupen, mother, Olga (Sloan) Nupen; sister Shirley Schwindt; and brothers, Arnold Nupen and Rodger Nupen.
Ardy was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. Her spirit and strength will continue to inspire and live in our hearts forever.
