Betty Dienstmann

September 1, 1941 — September 2, 2022

On September 2, 2022, Betty Anne Dienstmann took her final breath before passing away peacefully in her home surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, September 24, 2022 at Parkway Funeral Service. The family will begin greeting visitors an hour before the service starts.

Betty was born September 1, 1941 in Strasburg, ND to Valentine and Elizabeth (Bachmeier) Braun. She grew up on a farm near Strasburg along with 10 siblings. She married David Dienstmann on June 4, 1960.

A caring, beautiful woman from the inside out, Betty was a devoted, selfless wife and mother. Her pride and joy wa s being a homemaker to David and their four sons Daniel, Douglas, Duane, Dean and daughter Dawn. She loved spoiling her grandchildren...they all knew where the candy drawer was. Collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia was a hobby and David built her an entire room to display her treasures. She never allowed anyone to leave a table hungry, always monitoring guest plates and asking with a heartfelt “what can I pass you?” Made from scratch baked goods were always on hand for whomever popped in. Fresh garden vegetables picked from the back yard garden were plentiful, as were strawberries, raspberries and chokecherries. Canning kept her busy in the fall. Homemade jellies were a staple on the breakfast table…crunchy dill pickles would accompany many lunches and dinners. When it came to bowling or a game of pinochle, she could definitely hold her own. Decorating the house highlighted the various holidays throughout the seasons, and hosting Christmas was her yearly family tradition.

These memorable times, along with her love, caring and affection will be greatly missed.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, David, Bismarck, ND; her four sons, Daniel (Susan), Bismarck, Douglas (Sandra), Minot ND, Duane (Heather),  Bismarck, Dean (Genevieve), Bismarck; and daughter, Dawn Alkhafaji, Bismarck; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her sisters, Chris Lippert, Linda (Terry) Herr; and brother, Kenneth (Judi) Braun.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deborah and her highly anticipated sister; brothers, Alex, Raymond, Victor and LeRoy Braun; and sisters, Alvina Faith, Bernice Grensteiner and Seline.
