Hilma Ahl, 100, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the Baptist Health Care Center in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday March 24, at Parkway Funeral Service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at the Regan Cemetery in May, 2022.
Hilma was born July 10, 1921 to Arthur and Signe Johnson. She attended school in Regan and upon graduation she received her teaching credentials. Hilma married Alfred Ahl in 1942 and together they had four daughters; Connie, Linda, Judy, and Brigeta. Alfred passed away in 1963.
Hilma was a strong woman. After her husband’s death, she moved from the farm into Regan and worked at the school cafeteria. She later moved to Bismarck and went to work at the ND Department of Transportation in the planning division. She retired after 28 years with the department.
She raised her daughters, worked outside the home, and dedicated her life to family and friends. Hilma especially enjoyed baking, going to garage sales, flea markets, and visiting with friends. She was always looking for treasures and antiques. She loved decorating her home with a lot of Victorian décor. Hilma had a skill for baking that was unmatched. She was very active in DAV auxiliary and a member of the Three Crowns Swedish American Association.
She maintained a very active lifestyle and lived alone until she was in her 90s. Hilma moved into the Terrace in 2014 where she really enjoyed living and made friends with all of the residents and staff.
We know that in heaven, Hilma is attending the very best flea markets and garage sales in search of that hidden treasure. Here on earth, Hilma’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are keenly aware that while we are losing our treasure, she lived a long and healthy life and was ready to be reunited with her family members that passed before her.
Hilma is survived by two daughters; Connie Wiedrich and Brigeta (Eddie) Wuitschick, seven grandchildren; Terry Munsch, Tammy (Rod) Braae, Twila Ball, Troy (Sandy) Munsch, Jeff (Marcie) Wuitschick, Delilia (Rich) Wolf, Kyle Davis and several great-grand children.
Hilma was preceded in death by her parents; brother Vernon; husband Alfred; and daughters Linda and Judy.
The family wishes to thank the Terrace and Baptist Health Care for all the care provided to Hilma.
