Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Erickson peacefully passed away on Oct. 17, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Bismarck. She was born April 6, 1954, to Dale and Delores Thormodsgard in Hettinger. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave., Bismarck.
Those who were lucky enough to know Kathy knew that she was a loving and selfless spouse, sibling, daughter, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. She spent a significant portion of her life passionately caring and advocating for individuals with special needs. She worked a multitude of different jobs, creating ripples of positive impact for those around her.
While she touched many lives, the luckiest people in the world are the ones that can call her Mom, Grandma and Wife. This is because they have been gifted many years of uncomfortably full bellies from (maybe too many) home cooked gourmet meals and delectable chocolate desserts. They have been spoiled with receiving gifts that have been thoughtfully chosen and perfectly executed for all birthdays, holidays and any special occasion. She has always been able to show up for the important people in her life. And for some reason, she never seemed to get tired. She has been officially deemed as “the strongest person we know” by her entire family. She has demonstrated what strength, courage, resiliency and a compassionate heart can look like even in the most adverse of times. Ultimately, her family will continue to be the luckiest people because they get to carry all of these pieces of her, with them, forever.
Grateful for sharing her life are her husband Dean; children Brent (Lorna) Erickson, Ryan (Holly) Erickson, Sonya (Nathan) Tangen; her six grandchildren Elle, Everly, Dax, Elin, Harper and Alexander; her mother Delores Thormodsgard; brothers Jim, Neil, Allen and sister Susan Anderson along with a large number of cousins and extended family members.
Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Thormodsgard; and her father, Dale Thormodsgard.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that ripples of positive impact continue by donating in remembrance of Kathy to a Special Needs organization, preferably the Arc of Bismarck or Able, Inc: https://thearcofbismarck.org/get-involved/online-donation/ or https://www.ableinc.net/get-involved/
