Violette “Vi” Ruff, 87, Bismarck, passed on March 10, 2022, at Sanford Medical Center, Bismarck.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, March 14 at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E Divide Ave., Bismarck. 

Vi was born in Wishek, to Ferdinand and Magdalena (Vossler) Krein on September 5, 1934.  She graduated from Wishek High School with the Class of 1952. After high school she met and married Alden. Together they settled in Bismarck and had four children.

She taught at a country school prior to moving to Bismarck. Vi enjoyed 30+ years employment with the Motor Vehicle Department working up to Supervisor of Records. She thoroughly enjoyed taking in local sporting events, weekly luncheons with friends, cooking, and baking. One of Vi’s greatest joys were her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling.

Vi will be greatly missed by her family: sons, Brian and wife Nithya and their children, Alexandra and Tara; Brad and Diane and daughter, Danielle and husband Bradley and daughter, Olivia, Brent and his wife Serena and sons Brayden and Braxten, and daughter Denette and her husband Brian; brother, Bob and his wife Germaine; and sister-in-law Erma Krein, brother-in-law James Ruff and wife Donna, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alden; parents, sisters Estelle (Paul), Connie (Vern), Darlene (Jim), and Luetta (Duane); brothers Clarence, Leo (Anne), Kenneth (Eileen) and Roger.
